The history of the Philippines include tragic disasters caused by inevitable calamities that struck the country. Typhoons are among the disastrous weather instances that brought the country massive destructions and thousands of dead people. I also heard that most Philippine regions are now flooded whenever the rainy season comes. Before, only the lower land areas were the only ones that had problems with rain floods. I could only assume that the country seems to be sinking every year.

The rainy season in the Philippines has not yet reached its peak, but the country was devastated by two tropical storms already. The first one is Florita that came through the country a couple of weeks ago. I heard from online friends that the said storm left a sad number of Filinos, who were reported missing and dead. Also, the country's flourished land was filled with flash floods. When Florita left the Philippine region, it then brought a stormy chaos in China -- leaving more than 500 locals dead.

After Typhoon Florita, the Philippines was again struck by another powerful typhoon named "Glenda". It was headlined in CNN and other international TV news stations that the country experienced strong winds and heavy rains. Classes, some business establishments, and government offices receded operations. Again, it was sad to learn that there were regions in the country that were submerged under deep water areas. In a few more years, I wonder if the Philippines would still be visible after their rainy season is through.

Like what I have said on my past posts, these fuck-ups we're currently experiencing with the weather throughout the world are caused by unnatural causes. No, not unnatural in the sense of modern digital technology affecting it through those handheld gizmos, you know. What I'm referring to as unnatural is that for the past few centuries, we only have these weather changes with such astounding differences to what we are used to have back then. Global warming, perhaps?

Well, global warming has been a long-standing issue when it comes to making damn excuses for nature's fuck-ups. But no, they're in no sense excuses: they're actually what this whole shitload of fuck-ups are made of! Yes, those technological innovations have something to actually do with it. CFCs, air conditioners, smog, factory waste, etc. That's right. They all add up to the problems we're having with the actual weather and all -- especially those damn nuclear testings! At least that's what I believe, and I think so do you.

For instance, the 2001 typhoon in Singapore, which leveled the trees and other plant life somewhere in the country's north-eastern portion, was formed unnaturally. Again, unnatural in the sense of what we don't expect and what we do expect from a typhoon. Yes, this damn strong typhoon was formed just slightly from the actual equator, about 1.5 fuckin' degrees latitude or so. This has never happened before this time, and now we have typhoons forming even closer to the equator of the planet! What next: snow in Jamaica?

According to meteorological statistics, the wettest place on earth is located in India. The land of Cherrapunji in India is hailed as the only place on earth where there seems to be drastic irony of wet and dry weathers. Based of the observations done in the city, it experiences dry winter. That means, not a single drop of rain ever falls in the time of cold season. This results in the scarcity of water for Cherrapunji. While, come the monsoon rains, the whole city is flooded with rain waters.
What contributed to this contrasting weather is the high elevation of the city. It is set very high above the sea level that rains usually run from the mountains down to the valleys. Also, the location of the city affects the weather. The rivers surrounding Cherrapunji evaporate and condenses so slow that they do not fall in due time. Instead, they stay in the troposphere until winter arrives. Only then will they fall as snow, and since their evaporation until the melting of ice, there is absolutely no rainshowers in Cherrapunji. Meteorologists only have explanations for this phenomena, but they cannot further explain just why among the other cities in the great Indian subcontinent, Cherrapunji fell to this case.

It is common perception that after the storm has gone, the sun will shine its brightest. We even expect rainbow. But, this was not what happened to San Jose. I just got this news hours after the breaking weather occurred. It was about the wettest winter in the town.
According to the townspeople, they did not expect the winter to be this rainy. The rain gauge measured a .45 inches rain fall. That exceeded the average record of .44 inches. They did not expect that more rains will come. At first, there were dark clouds, the sky seemed heavy, but no major thunderstorm struck San Jose. It was the long rain that surprised the people. The unexpected length of rainy days affected their trades and their households as well. They were not prepared and have managed to warm their homes and keep the kids indoors. It was an unusual thing to happen especially in winter.
I was not that surprised to learn of the news. Admittedly, the people realized this wet winter season to be the worst of all. I guess, this was the effect of the drastic climate shifting that affects the whole world, especially the countries near the Arctics. San Jose survived the chill of the rainy winter. But, this news paved the way for other countries to monitor the rain fall come rainy season.

Thanks to the wireless connection integrated in PDAs, we can now receive weather reports straight from the weather station to our phones. But, this service is currently available in US. Although I do not pay much attention to every day weather, I still find a subscription to the provider useful for my daily business trips.
Emergency email is the provider of this free service. Weather reports, as well as disasters, are updated and reported in a daily basis. The forecast is sent via e-mail. This means, subscribers can have access to the station using computers or personal digital assistants. That is why, to gain access to Emergency email, subscribers are required to register their e-mail address.
I only find one disadvantage with this service. It allows a subscriber to connect to the current weather situation in one area at a time. For multiple areas, subscribers must repeat the registration until all the areas desired are covered. I find this inconvenient because when e-mails are sent, I have to open all the weather reports of all the ares of my interest.

Weather information is as important as your own safety and convenience. Traditionally, weather updates were transmitted through radio or TV. Until now, most Americans still switch on to their favorite radio station or program in order to listen or watch the latest news update.
Yet the internet technology has also revolutionized the transmission of weather information. Today, weather news is also downloadable via the internet. The advantage of using the web is that you can be certain that you are getting the latest information. One of the networks that provide news information through internet is The Weather Channel.
